CAHFSA Strengthens Regional Collaboration at the 4th Joint AITVM–STVM Conference

The Caribbean Agricultural Health and Food Safety Agency (CAHFSA) is pleased to announce our participation in the 4^th Joint International Conference of the Association of Institutions for Tropical Veterinary Medicine (AITVM) held in collaboration with the Society for Tropical Veterinary Medicine (STVM), from 23^rd  to 26^th  June 2026 at UWI, St. Augustine in Trinidad and Tobago.

The conference was hosted at the University of the West Indies, including sessions at the University Inn and the Teaching and Learning Complex. This conference convened leading experts, researchers, policymakers, and practitioners in the field of Tropical Veterinary Medicine.

Under this year’s theme “Resilient Futures in Tropical Veterinary Medicine”, the 4-day conference provided a platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration on pressing animal health challenges affecting region. The progamme featured a wide range of presentations and discussions led by distinguished lecturers and researchers focusing on emerging and re-emerging diseases, regional animal health threats and innovative approaches to strengthening regional resilience against infectious diseases.

CAHFSA’s participation underscores our continued commitment to advancing animal health, food safety and regional collaboration across CARICOM Members States. As part of our contribution to the conference, CAHFSA’s Animal Health Specialist, Dr. Nneka Hull James, delivered a presentation on Thursday 25 June 2026, titled “ One Health, One Region: CAHFSA’s Impact on Animal Health from Policy to Practice.” This presentation demonstrated the Agency’s role in strengthening animal health systems and advancing the One Health approach across the CARICOM.

By engaging in this important forum CAHFSA continues to contribute and benefit from shared experiences, expertise and best practices that support resilient and sustainable livestock and animal health systems in the region.
