
Strengthening Traceability in the Caribbean Agro-Food Sector: CAHFSA Contributes to Regional Workshop in Panama

The Caribbean Agricultural Health and Food Safety Agency (CAHFSA) is proudly
participated in the joint 34th Caribbean Veterinary Medical Association (CbVMA)
Conference and 8th PCVC Commonwealth Veterinary Conference from April14 to 17 at
Ocean Coral Springs Resort Jamaica.
Held under the theme “Advancing Our World Through Sustainable Health and Animal
Care,” the conference brought together veterinary professionals, academia,
policymakers and stakeholders from across the Caribbean to exchange knowledge,
strengthen partnerships, and explore innovative approaches to animal health and
sustainability. Critically important discussions we held around the topics of Single
Registration of Veterinary Professionals in CARICOM, Global One Health Development
and Implementation, Disaster Response and Resilience for Animal Welfare in the
Caribbean and Rabies and the Global Movement of Animals.
As part of the conference programme, Dr. Nneka Hull James, Animal Health Specialist at
CAHFSA, delivered a presentation entitled “One Health, One Region: CAHFSA’s Impact
from Policy to Practice.” Her presentation highlighted CAHFSA’s ongoing work in
promoting the One Health approach, strengthening regional coordination and translating
policies into practical actions that support animal health, public health and food safety
across CARICOM Member States.
CAHFSA’s participation in this important regional conference reflects its continued
commitment to advancing sustainable animal health systems, capacity building and
fostering collaboration to address shared challenges in the Caribbean.
