Building a Safer Food Future: CAHFSA Launches National Campaign with Restaurant Training in Suriname
June 7, 2025🌍 World Food Safety Day 2025 | 🍽️ First Steps Toward a Safer Culinary Future in Suriname
To mark this year’s World Food Safety Day, CAHFSA proudly launched its national campaign to strengthen food safety in Suriname’s restaurant sector. The first training session—“Good Hygiene and Food Safety Basics for the Restaurant Industry”—was held on May 27, 2025, at CAHFSA’s headquarters for the full team of Spice Quest Restaurant.
Led by Food Safety Specialist Ms. Janelle Yarde-Blackman, the workshop provided hands-on guidance on critical food hygiene principles, contamination prevention, and compliance with food safety standards.
We commend Spice Quest’s leadership for prioritizing food safety in their operations. As their owner Mr. Patrick Woei shared:
“Food safety education and proper cooking techniques are vital for building a responsible and sustainable future in the food and hospitality industry.”
This is only the beginning! CAHFSA remains committed to expanding this training across Suriname and the Caribbean, supporting the health of our people, the strength of our tourism industry, and the resilience of our food systems.
📅 Let’s #PrepareForTheUnexpected
🍛 Let’s protect every plate
