October 12, 2026The Caribbean Agricultural Health and Food Safety Agency (CAHFSA) is supporting local entrepreneurs in strengthening their knowledge of product development, food safety, and market access through practical training sessions.
During a recent masterclass in Suriname, food safety specialist Janelle Yarde-Blackman guided participants through key aspects of bringing food products to market, including market research, shelf life, laboratory testing, labeling, packaging, and marketing.
The training emphasizes the importance of integrating food safety requirements from the early stages of product development. Entrepreneurs seeking to export their products must also understand the sanitary and phytosanitary requirements of their target markets.
Through technical assistance, capacity-building initiatives, and collaboration with regional stakeholders, CAHFSA continues to promote food safety awareness, support entrepreneurship, and help businesses prepare their products for local and regional markets.
CAHFSA remains committed to strengthening food safety practices and facilitating safe trade across the Caribbean region.
