November 8, 2022The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the World Health Organization (WHO) will be hosting the annual International Food Safety Authorities Network (INFOSAN) regional meeting for the Americas with the INFOSAN Secretariat, which will be held from 9 to 10 November 2022, Brazil,
This will be the ninth regional meeting to strengthen the International Food Safety Authorities Network (INFOSAN) in the Americas, organized within the context of the Regional Meeting for PulseNet International (Latin America and the Caribbean).
For more than 15 years, INFOSAN has facilitated the rapid exchange of information across borders and between members, during hundreds of food safety events. As a member-driven, global network, INFOSAN has proven to be a practical, effective and efficient tool for information exchange, allowing for the implementation of risk management measures to prevent the spread of foodborne illness and save lives. In the context of the Regional Strategy to Strengthen INFOSAN in the Americas, this meeting will provide an opportunity for INFOSAN members in the Americas to discuss progress, challenges and opportunities to strengthen the network at the regional level and contribute to the protection of global food supply, as we work towards lowering the global burden of foodborne diseases.
Participants will include approximately 35 INFOSAN Emergency Contact Points and/or Focal Points from food safety authorities in Member States in the Americas, and representatives from other regional institutions and networks involved in food safety.
